Yes, driverless monorail does work

Photograph of the Port Liner monorail coming into the station at Sannomiya

Every time I come across a claim driverless trains or monorails don’t work, I roll my eyes. Portliner in Kobe links central Sannomiya with Kobe Airport. It’s a monorail on a raised track without a driver. It’s smooth, efficient and incredibly practical.

Nor is it alone. There are monorails all over the country, a lot of them without drivers.

So yes, driverless monorail trains do work.
