Black and White in Harborland

It’s a tradition to go down to Harborland on a Friday evening, meet my wife and have dinner. Sometimes, if I get there early, I spend a little time with my camera or smartphone walking around taking photos.

These are from one such evening. I arrived about an hour early, so took myself off on a wander around the harbor and neighbouring Merikan Park.

As I go there quite often, it gives me a chance to play with my camera. I can experiment with settings and styles because I know if I get it wrong I’ll be back there next week to have another go.

These were shot using Black and White film simulation and a 35mm prime lens. All I’ve done to them is resize and added my watermark, otherwise what you see is what came off the camera.

As a city with a strong maritime heritage, Kobe has a dedicated museum in Harborland. It’s hard to miss (there’s a large white structure on its top). As well as exhibits inside, there are also a few dotted about the park.
