The AI generated lookbook

Screenshot of an Asian Woman in black clothes. The image was generated by AI as a fashion lookbook

Got sent a link to a “look book” on YouTube with a “what do you think?” TBH, it isn’t my thing but I went had a look anyway.

On my phone I knew there was something off, but couldn’t put my finger on it and didn’t want to be rude in case someone was using a filter. It was when I went to YT on my BFO 4K monitor that it was obvious it was AI generated.

That said, it was damned good. There were little tricks in there (intentional or otherwise) like blemishes on the skin and maybe a hint of covered up acne on a cheek. The texture in the materials was there too. Even though these were hard to spot on a small screen, their totality seemed to add to the realism.

Only let down was an awkward hand position.

In the past few weeks I’ve seen increasing numbers of tie-ups from virtual YTers with real-world fashion brands. Given what you see in the mirror is rarely what they sold you on the webshop, I’m wondering how long before virtual influencers replace real models as the go-to for fashion retailers out to connect with their audience.

Or maybe they already are.

Video is here.
