Creating the AI Meditation image

When I wrote my article on why we ask too much of AI, I wanted an image that reflected the thoughtful, if chaotic prose. I thought it appropriate to ask Bing Create to come up with the hero image that went with it.

The July '23 issue of Glamour in Bulgaria features Lisa Opie in a shocking pink Barbie inspired outfit. Except it's a photo that was never taken. Instead it was generated in a machine.

Some of the negative effects of ChatGPT and its ilk have been felt in the fiction world. Clarkesworld, a publisher of short story science-fiction, had to close its submissions after being bombarded with AI generated pitches. This is quite the blow to those hoping to "make it" in the sci-fi world as it was one of the few publishers to pay authors.
